About Us
Mission
Our mission is to “Build strong communities through leadership and education, for today’s diverse and complex society with history, arts and culture”. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Family Life Center builds on the strengths of its participants to develop leadership skills and self-esteem.
At MLKFLC Youth learn the value of community involvement and volunteerism. Families are provided life management skills that make the community a productive and viably enriched place to live. Services provided to the community have been based and focused on families with an emphasis on building strong communities as a primary goal.
Our mission is to support and strengthen the community by serving youth and families in need. We’ve been providing human & social services to individuals for over 27 years.
We serve families who experience the lack of financial resources for daily basic needs and lack of supportive services. We help individuals who have barriers to employment, are burdened with addictions, mental illness and/or criminal backgrounds.
For over twenty-seven years, MLKFLC has provided programs in the areas of literature, health & wellness, recreational arts, and culture for children and families.
Our vision is to strengthen the community, through the provisions of workshops and services (direct and referral) in the much needed areas, that includes but is not limited to: mentoring, family reunification, leadership training, history, arts and culture, housing, transportation, education (GED, continuing education), health and wellness, recreation, employment preparation, job training, substance abuse, domestic violence, crime prevention, advocacy, computer literacy, financial literacy, counseling, summer feeding programs and many other areas related to activities of daily living and/or life skills.
